About the choir :
Formed in 1989, Sooke Community Choir provides choral entertainment for
our community of Sooke and surrounding areas. Our choir has 40 members
who enjoy performing a variety of music that includes popular, spirituals,
folksongs, traditional, and seasonal pieces.
We perform two concerts each year, in May and in December. Singing at community events, and for smaller gatherings are other ways we provide a service to our community. The choir has toured in Holland and Hong Kong.

Musical Leadership :
Our conductor, Phillip Hallman, has broad musical experience and a passion
for musical theatre. He is music director with Victoria Youth Musical
Theatre, and vocal coach for Allegro Performing Arts Centre.
Our accompanist, Jeanne Campbell, is an accomplished musician who teaches at Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific. She has been an invaluable resource for the choir since 2002, and has both conducted and accompanied the choir.
How to join :
Thinking of joining a choir? We welcome any adult who wants to experience
the enjoyment of singing in harmony with others. (see

Sessions start in January and September. Come once or twice to try it out and see if you like it. There is no audition, and you will be assisted with voice placement if needed. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Practice CDs are provided .
Schedule:
Rehearsals are held Mondays
between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at
Edward Milne Community School, 6218
Sooke Road.
~ Our Fall session starts on September 10, 2007 and new members are welcome
until October 1st.
~ Our Spring session starts on January 7, 2008, and new members are welcome
until January 28th.
~ Cost is $50 per session plus a one-time purchase of @$30 for performance
attire.
